The "PLUS" is what it's all about: Ceramics PLUS pottery, PLUS painting, PLUS drawing, PLUS classes, PLUS gifts, PLUS birthday parties, plus YOU!

Founded in 1997, by Susan (nicknamed "Tangle") Brightman, CeramicsPlus is a comprehensive studio located in Cockeysvilee, MD (Baltimore County). In addition to for sale and commission items, classes in ceramics, pottery, painting and drawing are offered six days a week. Day, evening and weekend classes provide opportunities for all ages and most work schedules. Students have ranged in age from 4 to 80.

Being so easily accessible from the Baltimore Beltway via York Road or I-83, you can access many routes to do classes at this full working studio. You can take rediscover the creative joy of childhood. Come play with clay, drawing, painting, sewing, crafting, etc. Add some fun to our life. It is all-ways good to play a bit in life.

Drawing and painting classes include learning to stretch canvas for oil painting. The younger people start to draw and paint the sooner their natural gifts will shine. Every age group can start from scratch or pick up from where you left off years ago. We teach oil, acrylic and watercolor.

Susan's background is more than that of a gifted artist. Susan has served as an elementary school teacher and counselor, workshop facilitator, ordained minister, certified independent counselor, consultant, and now, private art teacher and mentor. Serving others is among her highest goals. Her studio reflects a commitment to nurturing the human spirit with artistry. Her values are evident in each instructional setting. Classes focus on each individual's skills and expanded self-awareness. CeramicsPlus is a powerful opportunity to explore one's self while having lots of fun.

CeramicsPlus stocks an array of glazes and stains. Classes demonstrate many methods of finishing handwork, wheelwork and ceramics. Don't worry, "Tangle" will teach you. Make no mistake about it, Tangle’s core mantra is: "There are NO mistakes - just creative opportunities!"

Begin with one or more of hundreds of in-stock, ready-to-glaze, bisqueware. Wind chimes, puppies, cats, cups, mugs, steins, plates, vases, bowls, angels, fairies, dragons, unicorns, birds, ducks, geese, swans, deer, frogs, turtles, cows, pigs, chicks, candle holders, theme wreaths, faith icons, seasonal decorations, holiday ornaments, and sun, moon & star motifs are but a few of the choice goodies and delights for you to bring to life. You may wish to make your very own hand-formed items--even try your hand at throwing a pot. Throwing a pot? Yes, Tangle has a pottery wheel available, along with a choice of clay types. If you're already experienced at the potter’s wheel just come and let your fingers play in the clay.

One of the most unique contributions Susan has made to the arts and to the art of communication is her creation of the "I LOVE YOU" hand. Yet another way to express feeling through clay, this sign language item is available ONLY through CeramicsPlus.
